IRP / GNIB Renewal Support
IRP / GNIB Renewal Support in Ireland
The Irish Residence Permit, commonly called an IRP card, records a non-EEA national’s registered immigration permission in Ireland. Many people still refer to the previous GNIB card name, which is why both terms are used on this page.
IRLD Immigration Services helps clients prepare for the current IRP renewal process, review the required information and organise supporting documents before applying through the official online renewal system.
Who This Service Is For
This service is intended for people in the Republic of Ireland who already hold a registered immigration permission and need to renew it, move to an eligible new stamp category or update the application with a new passport where the official system permits.
What We Help With
- Reviewing the current permission and intended renewal category.
- Checking passport and IRP details for consistency.
- Organising evidence relevant to the stamp or permission type.
- Preparing clear digital copies for the online application.
- Reviewing contact and address information.
- Helping clients understand official follow-up requests.
Preparing for an Online Renewal
Confirm the Permission You Are Renewing
The documents required can depend on the permission or stamp category. A study-related permission, employment-based permission and family-based permission may require different supporting evidence.
Check Your Passport Details
The name, nationality, passport number, DOB and passport expiry details should be entered accurately. If a new passport has been issued, the application should follow the current official instructions for providing it.
Prepare Clear Supporting Files
Files should be complete, readable and correctly oriented. Cropped pages, dark photographs or incomplete documents can create avoidable delays.
Keep the Application Receipt
After submission, keep the official receipt and application reference. These records are important for tracking and for responding to queries.
When Additional Advice May Be Needed
If a permission has already expired, the applicant does not meet the conditions of the current stamp, there has been a lengthy gap in status or the renewal has been refused, the matter may require legal advice rather than routine administrative support.
